ABB offers the most complete portfolio of three-phase DC drives - from 9 kW (12 HP) up to 18 MW (24 000 HP).
ABB Drives uses a common, robust cabinet design with a frame body (steel, 2.5 mm thick) and softline-design metal sheets (1.5 mm thick), all hot zink galvanized. Standard height is 2.000 mm, plus 120 mm detachable hood, depths 600/ 800 mm (depending on power rating). European as well as US standards available . Air cooled design (IP 21 to 41), option IP54.

The group drive panels are customer specific line ups, consisting of incoming section(s) and horizontal bus. Each single converter cabinet contains main switch, fused isolator and a separate AC voltage supply for the electronics. In short these are as per customers application and requirement. |

DC motors are very often in an excellent shape, even after dozens of years of operation. So it is worthwhile investigating the condition of the installed DC drives. ABB has developed a set of proven products to modernize existing DC drives installations. Our approach is well-proven and has been used not only for ABB's DC drives (like Tyrak, Veritron, Sele, etc.), but also for other manufacturer's DC drives.
An attractive upgrade path to existing high power DC drives is to keep the power stack and just exchange the drive electronics boards.
